Dr Patrick Kadama is the Executive Director of the African Platform on Human Recourses for Health. Hosted at the African Centre for Global Health and Social Transformation (ACHEST) in Kampala Uganda. He joined ACHEST about five years ago to take up the position of Director for Policy and Strategy, which he still concurrently holds working on health governance and health workforce issues.
He was previously at WHO/headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland) where he was advising on country Health Policies and Strategies for delivery of services to attain better and equitable health outcomes. He is a physician,Health Planner/Economist with over 25years in health policy analysis, planning and financing. He graduated from Makerere University with a Medical Degree (MB; ChB) in 1976 and specialized in Clinical Tropical Medicine at the London School, undertook a research degree in Health Planning and Financing and studied health care management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He was head of health sector planning in the Uganda Ministry of Health before he joined WHO Headquarters in Geneva, as advisor on health policy and approaches to health systems strengthening at country level.
